Epoxy resin is an excellent material for many jobs. The hardener added to epoxy resin is the main component defining yellowing resistance.

The hardener for our resins has very good UV resistance.  However, we recommend the use of a UV blocker – especially for projects with resins for outdoor use, as with prolonged exposure to UV radiation the resins can yellow and lose their water tightness.

With a dedicated UV stabilizer (UV blocker) we can prevent yellowing and loss of water tightness.

Simply add 1% UV blocker to the resin/hardener mixture to significantly increase its resistance to adverse conditions or add UV stabilizer to the resin and after mixing add hardener.

The UV stabilizer does not affect the color or transparency of the resin.

Using the supplied syringe you can easily and accurately dose the stabilizer.

Example of typical yellowing of the resin in sunlight after about 6 months

Dosing of UV stabilizer:

• 20 grams are sufficient for 1.5 kg of epoxy resin.
• 40 grams are sufficient for 3.0 kg of epoxy resin.
• 100 grams are sufficient for 7.5 kg epoxy resin.
• 200 grams are sufficient for 15 kg epoxy resin.

Note: The UV stabilizer can crystallize under the influence of temperature changes. By heating the packaging before use, the substance becomes liquid again.

With the supplied syringe you can dose easily and accurately: 1 cc equals 1 gram. For example, if you make 300 grams of epoxy (resin and harder combined), add 3 grams (= 3 cc) of UV Blocker to the mixture.
Stick to the dosage. Overdose of more than 2% can actually have a yellowing effect.

Shelf life: At least 2 years with closed packaging
