Luminescent turquoise pigment is one of the most popular phosphors. High luminous power, versatile application, the possibility of mixing with transparent dyes gives a lot of possibilities.

Turquoise luminescent pigment is one of the most frequently used in the production of our tables with resins for filling cavities, creating 3D effects or building luminous canyons.

An average grain size of 100-120um (0.1-0.12mm) allows to obtain optimal effects – quite long glow time at the expense of higher weight of grains and faster dropping in the carrier such as resins, plastics, varnishes, waxes, silicones. In case of many applications it is not a significant obstacle. Apart from yellow-green glowing pigment, it is the most popular pigment for mixing with epoxy resins and obtaining effects you can admire in our gallery.

Important information about the luminescent pigment

The pigment glowing in the dark is a powder produced on the basis of strontium clay – it is a new generation of pigments far superior to those based on sulfides. The powder is neither combustible nor radioactive. It is also environmentally friendly and has no toxic properties.

However, due to the possibility of irritation, it is recommended to avoid contact with the eyes and respiratory tract when working with the raw pigment. The product absorbs both visible and UV light.

Unlike older pigments, UV light does not cause its “burning out”.

The pigment is not waterproof, which means that it should be used with a medium that does not contain water – e.g. resins, plastics, varnishes, waxes, silicones etc. It should also be noted that the medium does not have a strongly acidic or alkaline reaction – in this case the pigment may also decompose.

Basic principles of working with a pigment

Depending on the medium used and the desired effect, we suggest using from 5% to 30% of the pigment in the mixture. Before starting to work properly, we recommend that you carry out a few tests with different proportions to determine what effect you are most satisfied with.

The base in which the pigment is processed should be transparent so as to allow the pigment to absorb light from the environment on the one hand and not to reduce its light emission on the other. We can additionally colour the carrier so that during the daytime the colour corresponds to the colour of glowing in the dark – but the colouring should be as small as possible in order to maintain the transparency of the carrier.

If we apply the pigment in a thin layer (e.g. we paint the wall with a pigment-based paint), it is important to paint the substrate white – the dark colour of the substrate can effectively reduce the glow capacity of the pigment. You also get better results by applying 2-3 thin layers than one thick layer.

If we use the pigment to fill deep cracks, e.g. in resin table tops, we should try to place the pigment as close to the surface as possible to allow it to charge and glow easily.  Pigment after curing with resin is a mass that can be well treated – sanded or rubbed.

Pigment is not waterproof. Therefore, we should store it in a dry place, tightly closed. When working with the pigment we should also make sure that the carrier is free of water admixtures.

Due to its weight, the pigment sediments, i.e. falls to the bottom as a result of gravity.
